Josh Kerr's mile world record and Sebastian Sawe's sub-two-hour marathon achievement have been shortlisted for the World Athletics Awards. Kerr, a 29-year-old British athlete, set a new mile record of 3:42.66 at the London Diamond League in July, surpassing the 27-year-old record held by Hicham El Guerrouj. The London Stadium crowd cheered him on throughout the event. In April, Sebastian Sawe, a 31-year-old Kenyan athlete, became the first competitor to run a marathon in under two hours, finishing in 1:59:30. His achievement was part of a remarkable race, with Ethiopia's Yomif Kejelcha and Uganda's Jacob Kiplimo also breaking the two-hour barrier. The World Athletics Awards will take place in Monaco on November 29, recognizing outstanding achievements in athletics. The nominees include awards for men's and women's athlete of the year, rising star, and coach, in addition to the moment of the year award.
